Dr. Sundar Kamath is Senior VP of Corporate Technology at Sanmina Corporation, a $6.5B Silicon Valley integrated electronics manufacturer with operations in 25 countries. His executive experience includes product design and development, global engineering, new product introduction, electronics assembly process and test technology, ODM product strategy, cleantech, memory modules, optical technology, electromechanical systems, and customer engineering. Prior to Sanmina, Dr. Kamath held technology development, project and product management positions at IBM Microelectronics, East Fishkill, NY, and, MicroModule Systems Inc., Cupertino, CA, covering a range of semiconductor and microelectronics packaging technologies and products. He is a co-inventor on a dozen US patents, and has contributed to over 50 technical publications and conference presentations at various industry forums including IEEE, ASME, SMTA, IMAPS, IPC, etc., and also an undergraduate textbook on Microsystems Packaging. He has been an advisor to startups in Silicon Valley and Bangalore (India), and served on academic advisory boards. He is a past Board member of the International Electronics Manufacturing Initiative (iNEMI) and a charter member of TIE (The Indus Entrepreneurs) Silicon Valley. He holds Bachelor’s, Master’s and Ph.D. degrees in engineering from the University of Madras (India), Cranﬁeld Institute of Technology (England), and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign respectively. In 2015, he led the Science for Society project to develop the ﬁrst special-purpose bus that included a medical clinic and mobile classroom powered by solar panels and storage batteries, to deliver essential services to rural communities.
